Calvin is TWO!

I can't believe my baby is TWO years old. I'm definitely one of those cliche moms blubbering about how time goes by so fast. One day you're documenting milk feedings, first smiles and weight gains, the next day you're negotiating with fruit snacks and teaching the ABC's. This little boy has brought us so much joy! 

Here's a little update on Calvin's life lately:

• Still LOVES all animals. He gets especially excited when he sees dogs or cats. He squeals in a super high-pitched voice and runs to chase them. 
• Loves bubble baths and color baths, except when the water is dumped on his head. Then he immediately wants to get out. 
• Eats pretty good, depending on his mood. Loves all fruit, some veggies like edamame, tomatoes, and peas. 
• Favorite meals are mac n' cheese, grilled cheese, shredded wheat cereal, eggs, and hot dogs. 
• Really loves getting into the pantry for snacks (granola bars, squeezee pouches, crackers, cookies, etc.) Luckily he isn't sneaky and will bring it to us and ask if he can have it. 
• Loves wearing bibs & hates when his hands are dirty after eating and wants us to wipe them ASAP. 
• Is obsessed with riding his Strider bike! This was the BEST purchase we ever could have made. It only took him a few hours to learn how to ride and he could do it for hours. 
• Loves all the typical boy things like balls, trucks, trains, tools, crashing into things, playing outside, and going to the park. 
• Doesn't really like to talk & we're not sure why. He has said a variety of words over the past year, but then he will stop saying them or refuse to make certain sounds. We'll probably be getting him evaluated for speech therapy, but are hoping that over time he grows out of this phase. A few words he does say are dad, mom, dog, truck, lulu, moon, yes & no. He'll also make animal noises like moo, meow, howl like a dog & roar like a lion. And if he sees a bug, or something that's gross he will make his own noise that sounds like a mix between yuck and kaka. 
• Gets really excited when we ask if he wants to play in the basement, play outside, or eat. He says, "YEAH!" and throws his hands in the air. 
• Throws a lot more tantrums then he used to... but overall is pretty well-behaved. We can usually bribe him to calm down with treats or distractions. He's never had a complete breakdown but I have a feeling that's coming. 
• Still sucks his thumb
• Gets on kicks where he likes to read the same book every morning and night. Some favorites lately have been Wacky Wednesday, Mr Brown Can Moo, The Raccoon That Liked to Munch, Who Said Moo? & Goodnight Moon
• Is super sweet natured. He loves to give kisses, big squeezes and will wave and blow kisses to strangers. 
• LOVES watching TV shows! For awhile the only show that would entertain him was Daniel Tiger, but lately he has been loving Creative Galaxy (on Amazon), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, UmiZoomi, SuperWhy, and his ultimate favorite... Paw Patrol (Dogs driving trucks...how could you top that?!)
• 50th percentile for weight (28 pounds) & 55th for height
