Calvin is 6 Months!

So... Calvin is HALF A YEAR old! And has been for several weeks. I'm behind on most things. And I am sure keeping up with blogging (+ working part-time + laundry + cleaning the house + cooking real meals, etc.) is only going to get more difficult as this little boy becomes more mobile!

Here's the current update:

• Eats solids 3x /day! Does pretty good, although it gets messy because he is always trying to suck his thumb while eating. And he's inconsistent with the foods he likes. 
• Spits while he talks. Not like gross spitting up, that has almost stopped completely! :) But like spitting with his tongue and lips as he makes all kinds of adorable noises. 
• Splashes with his legs and arms in the tub (and mom saying the words "Splish Splash" in an obnoxious voice
• Attacks / Tries to eat my face when he's hungry. Occasionally he will successfully latch onto my lips which is rather strange... haha
• Went to his first NHL Hockey Game (and got to sit right by the glass!) He was bug-eyed the whole time and probably over-stimulated from all the lights, noises and craziness. 
• Celebrated his first Halloween! (technically this was a few days after he turned 6 months, but I'm counting it.) He dressed up like a lion, went trick-or-treating at Denison, wore some tiger jammies, picked out a pumpkin, and helped mom carve a jack-o-lantern. 
• Reaches and grabs EVERYTHING. Trying to explore the world 24/7. 
• Rolls over from back to belly!! And since he learned how, he hasn't stopped. 
• Started lifting his belly up and getting on his knees for a second
• Pivots/rotates around in circles, sometimes scooting backwards
• Rides in the shopping cart like a big boy! This was a big step. And he loves shopping now. 
• WAS a sleeping champ for awhile (7-7:30 straight through) until he had a growth spurt + teething + daylight savings... so he's super inconsistent and tends to wake up super early or multiple times in the night. 
• Got his FIRST tooth!! (bottom right) Dad found it first and was really proud of that. 
• Makes the cutest face when concentrating/focused - his eyebrows furl, mouth is pursed but slightly open, drools a bit... hah I love it.
• SITS! I think it's official. He sits and plays only falling over occasionally when he reaches for something outside his range and gets off balance.  
• Starting to get a little ticklish in the belly and thighs
• Weight: 17 pounds
• Height: 27 inches
• Clothing Size: 9-month Carters, 6-9 month H&M, or 6-12 month Old Navy/Gap 

Dislikes:

• Oatmeal mixed with milk or formula
• Avocados 
• Drinking from bottles or sippy cups (chewing on them, sure... but not drinking.)
• Getting dressed
• Laying on his back for more than 2 seconds
• Being snuggled or rocked. Just give him his blankey, put him in his crib, and leave him alone. 

Likes:

• Oatmeal mixed with apple juice
• Pureed bananas and sweet potatoes 
• Play his alligator piano
• Sucking his thumb. A lot. Especially when we're trying to feed him solids and when he's sleepy... but also at other random times while playing
• When Dad brushes his teeth. Not just little smiles, big belly laughs. 
• Holding and eating books, especially Polar Bear, Polar Bear and Brown Bear, Brown Bear (sometimes even laughs at them)
• Scratching things. Especially pillows. And faces. 
• Scout - his singing Leapfrog puppy 
• Phones, iPads, computers (often swipes and scrolls for me on social media, types messages to people, and bangs my keyboard when I'm not paying attention.)
