#Eurafrica2013 || Unsere Deutschen Familie

The whole reason for our trip to Europe was for Oma & Opa's big 70th birthday party / family reuinion. It was so great for everyone to be together and lucky us, an excuse to travel to Europe again!

Compared to our previous eating style (a few small meals a day)... we definitely FILLED UP ON GERMAN FOOD. Pretzel Rolls, Spaghetti Eis, RitterSport, Mahl Taschen, Rotenwurst, Curry Wurst... holy YUM. I could totally live in Germany.

Now let's share a few memories...

Took a day trip to Salzburg, Austria to play in the Salt Mine.

Enjoyed Gummi Baren Land where they have unlimited free samples of the most delicious sugary treats!

Held the neighbor's Guinea pigs (kinda freaking out at this moment because the last time I held a rodent it bit my finger and blood squirted everywhere).

Played at the park, zip-lined...

Competed in the family obstacle course race (where my ultra-competitive husband had to strip naked to "speed up his time.")

Jumped off swings (and over top of people)...

Shopped at my favorite European store... Primark!! Where I found this outfit (dress and scarf for $15!):

Enjoyed family time at the country farm cottage. Lots of games (like Hand-Pong, Stadt, Land, Fluss) and lots of eating.

And the Grand Finale: Oma and Opa's big party day! Opa drove us around on his bus through Pforzheim & treated everyone to a big dinner at a local hotel/restaurant where we had a 5-course meal that lasted from noon to 7pm!  (Soup, salad, schnitzel, steak, chicken, hashbrowns, fries, spaetzle, veggies, ice cream & 4 different kinds of cake). We enjoyed lots of singing/musical numbers by our talented cousins, and a photo slideshow (complements of me.)

As usual, there was some slight family drama... what started as nice, relaxing boat rides in the pond, ended with a boy in the water, a brother who tried to help and accidentally put boy's pants in the hotel's washer (instead of the dryer), so they got locked inside, couldn't get them out and the cycle started... boy was stuck in his boxers in the bathroom for awhile. Hotel manager, mom, and aunt were NOT happy. Hah, but luckily it all worked out in the end and it's now a funny family reunion story to share.

Speaking of funny... let's not forget that moment I felt like I was at Thunder Down Under. "When in Europe" ...Right?

We made so many wonderful memories during our time in Germany. Family is the best.
